Rhinoplasty
The profile and alignment of your nose have a profound effect on the balance and symmetry of your face. Your nose is, quite literally, the centerpiece of your face. Making adjustments to the shape of your nose can have a surprisingly dramatic effect on the appearance of the rest of your face. Just look at the before-and-after images in our photo gallery to see the kind of results rhinoplasty nose surgery can achieve.
We perform rhinoplasty as an outpatient procedure at our in-office surgery suite. After anesthesia has been administered, your plastic surgeon separates the skin of your nose from the supporting structure of bone and cartilage beneath it. He then sculpts this structure into the shape that you and he agreed upon in your consultation. Your surgeon then drapes the skin back over your new nose and applies a splint to help your nose maintain its new shape. Usually, the whole surgery takes no more than an hour or two.

Breast Augmentation
Some women are lucky enough to be born with voluptuous, feminine curves. But now, in the era of modern plastic surgery, anyone can have them. If you would like to increase your bust size, we can help you achieve the figure you're looking for. We use saline-filled implants to augment the size of your breasts. Breast augmentation can also be used to even out a size discrepancy between your breasts or even to reconstruct a breast that has been lost due to mastectomy or other causes.
Breast augmentation surgery can be performed in several different ways. At your consultation, your surgeon will discuss the options that are available, and together, you will determine the best method to achieve the best result while minimizing scar visibility. The incisions may be made either around the areola, under the arm, or in the crease beneath the breast. The implant is then inserted either behind or in front of your chest muscle. The doctor positions the implant for the most natural-looking enhancement and then closes the incisions with stitches. The procedure should take one to two hours, and the incisions should be healed and the stitches out in a week to 10 days.
Contact our office if you are considering breast augmentation. Our board-certified plastic surgeons will be happy to meet with you to discuss your options and the results you can achieve.

Breast Reduction
Excessively large breasts can cause a whole host of problems. A woman or girl may feel self-conscious about her appearance. Bra straps can leave painful indentations in the shoulders. Breathing problems may result. Over time, the weight of extremely large breasts can even cause skeletal deformities. Breast reduction surgery can alleviate these problems by making breasts smaller, firmer, and more proportionate to the rest of the body.
In the most common method of breast reduction, an incision is made around the areola. This incision continues down the front of the breast, joining a second incision along the crease at the bottom of the breast to form an anchor-like shape. Glandular tissue and fat are removed until the breast is the desired size. The nipple and areola are then moved to a new, higher position, and the skin is closed and stitched to form the new breast contour.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Ears that protrude noticeably, or that are exceptionally large, can cause self-consciousness. For children, conspicuous ears can result in teasing. Ear surgery, also known as "otoplasty," can help both adults and children who are unhappy with the profile of their ears.
A child's ears are almost fully grown by age four, so ear surgery is usually performed during childhood or the early teenage years, though there is no additional risk for adults who wish to undergo otoplasty. The surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our in-office surgical suite.
There are several methods used to reshape prominent ears. In one of the most common, an incision is made on the back of the ear. The surgeon reshapes and removes cartilage in the ear until the desired shape is achieved, occasionally using non-removable stitches to help the cartilage maintain its new shape. The incision is then closed, and dressings are applied. The small scar from the incision generally fades over time. For more information about ear surgery, contact the offices of Drs. Gary and Irvin Wiesman today.

Facelift
Your age does not have to show on your face. Wrinkles, sagging skin, and other annoyances naturally appear with the passage of time, but fortunately, there are ways to reverse these visible signs of aging. At our office, we offer a variety of different procedures to help you turn back the clock, including facelift surgery.
In facelift surgery, a more youthful appearance is restored to your face by removing excess fat and tightening muscles and skin. This results in a much smoother face, free of wrinkles and sagging jowls.
Facelift surgery begins with an incision above your temple, just behind the hairline. This incision continues, still behind the hairline, down to your ear, then around the bottom of your ear to the base of your skull. Sometimes, a small incision is also made under your chin for the purpose of tightening the skin of your neck. The skin is lifted, and fat is either suctioned out or surgically excised. The muscles of your face are then tightened, and excess skin is removed. Stitches will be removed after about five days, and within a few weeks your face will be almost completely healed.

Facial Implants
The form and aesthetics of your face are largely a function of the position and prominence of facial bones, most importantly the chin, cheekbones, and jaw. A strong jaw and chin and cheekbones that are well-proportioned in relation to the rest of your face can be the key to facial beauty.
At the offices of Drs. Gary and Irvin Wiesman, we can enhance your face's structure using an array of facial implants. Chin, cheeks, and jaw can all be augmented and sculpted to provide you with a more ideal facial contour. In most cases, the implants are inserted through small incisions inside your mouth, so any scars are completely hidden. Cheek and chin implant surgery can usually be completed in less than an hour, and jaw implant surgery in one to two.

Chemical Peel
A chemical peel can be an excellent treatment to get rid of facial wrinkles, blemishes, acne, and even acne scars. The outer layers of skin where these problems reside are removed using a strong chemical solution, leaving smoother, clearer skin behind. Several different chemicals, with varying degrees of strength, are available for use in chemical peel procedures.
- Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are the weakest of the compounds used in chemical peel treatment. AHA peels are an excellent choice for the treatment of uneven skin pigment, light wrinkling, dry skin, and acne.
- Trichloroacetic acids (TCAs) are stronger than AHAs, resulting in a deeper peel. A TCA peel is used to treat the same sorts of problems as an AHA peel, including wrinkles and skin pigment issues, but achieves a more dramatic effect.
- Phenol peels are the strongest and most long-lasting of chemical peel treatments. The strong phenol chemical accomplishes a deep peel and is highly effective at reducing the appearance of deep wrinkles and blotches caused by sun exposure and aging. Phenol peels are also used to remove pre-cancerous growths.

Eyelid Surgery
Sagging upper eyelids and bags beneath the eyes can lend an old and tired aspect to any face, even one that may feel quite young and alert. These are natural parts of the aging process, but if your eyes do not reflect the way you feel, we can help. Using advanced plastic surgery techniques, we can reduce the appearance of drooping eyelids, making you look years younger.
Eyelid surgery, also called "blepharoplasty," is performed as an out patient procedure at our in-office surgical suite and usually takes from one to three hours. During the procedure, your plastic surgeon makes small incisions in the natural lines of your eyelids, removes excess fat, and tightens any loose skin and muscle. This removes the drooping, tired aspect from eyelids and leaves your eyes looking much more youthful.
Contact us if eyelid surgery interests you. Our board certified plastic surgeons will discuss the available techniques and explain the results you may be able to attain.

Tummy Tuck
Also known as abdominoplasty, tummy tuck surgery can help you get rid of persistent fat deposits on your stomach and lower abdomen. If fat deposits remain even after exercise and diet, the surgery can remove the fat, tighten abdominal muscles and skin, and give you the slim waistline you want. Abdominoplasty is also useful if you have lost a large amount of weight and are troubled by loose folds of leftover skin.
There are two main types of tummy tuck surgery, "complete" abdominoplasty and "partial" abdominoplasty, which is also known as a "mini-tummy tuck." During the procedure, your plastic surgeon makes an incision on your abdomen just above the pubic area, where any scars will be concealed by a bathing suit. Your physician then surgically removes fat, tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall, and removes any excess skin. The whole surgery generally takes from two to five hours. A mini-tummy tuck makes use of a smaller incision and takes only an hour or two. Abdominoplasty results in a flatter stomach and a slimmer waistline, and with proper diet and exercise, these results can be permanent.

Liposuction
Liposuction is exceptionally effective at removing fat and sculpting the contour of your body into a more flattering shape. Special surgical instruments are used to vacuum out areas of fat from problem areas, including the hips, buttocks, stomach, thighs, neck, and even the chin and cheeks.
Liposuction is performed using a special device called a "cannula," a narrow tube that is used to break up fat and then suction it out. The cannula is inserted through a tiny incision near the area that is being worked on. The surgeon moves it back and forth through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells to the point where they can be suctioned out through the cannula.
The amount of time required for a liposuction procedure can vary widely depending on the amount of work being done. You will notice a difference immediately afterwards, but after swelling subsides in a few weeks, you will see how impressive the results truly are.

Spider Vein Removal
Spider veins are dark, unsightly clusters of veins visible at the surface of your skin. They occur when the walls of very small blood vessels weaken, causing the vessel to expand. Found most frequently on the face and legs, spider veins are not dangerous, but they can make a woman feel self-conscious about the appearance of her skin, causing her to avoid clothing that shows the affected area.
Spider veins can easily be treated using sclerotherapy. In this treatment, a sclerosing solution is injected into the spider veins, causing them to collapse and fade, leaving clear skin behind. Clusters of spider veins are not essential to circulatory function; as they fade, the work they did will be taken over by healthy blood vessels nearby.
If you have spider veins and are interested in sclerotherapy, contact our plastic surgeons today.
